About Me

1. Best Piece of Creative Work- SketchUp Model of Fisher House by Louis Kahn

The model above took me three weeks to model in SketchUp, which was challenging as it involved the diagonal distribution and complicated built-in furniture. The Fisher House is beautifully situated in the tranquil residential suburb in Hatboro, Pennsylvania State, USA. The diagonal distribution from simple geometry creates various views and appropriate quality of light for each side, as well as increase the density of the house visually. Louis Kahn treated light is the spiritual part in the space because it can create the sense of 'private room within a room'. The fantastic scenery of sunrise and sunset is filtered through windows, illuminating the bench and fireplace as well. Window shutters also further strengthen the sense of correlation with the natural environment.

2. Image of Great Piece of Architecture- Heydar Aliyev Centre by Zaha Hadid

I am really impressed by the fluid and white structure of Heydar Aliyev Centre. The centre wins the Design Museum's Design of the Year Award 2014, which makes Zaha to be the first female architect to win this prize in its seven-year history. The sense of fluidity is continuous from its surrounding plaza to its interior design. The building itself is an exceptional piece of architecture and that challenges traditional ideology. It breaks the rigid and conventional presentation of Soviet culture in Baku, expressing the optimistic future of the nation. Compared to classical ideas that city as city should have civic spaces for democracy and interaction, which allows citizens to gather and communicate with each other.  I have that in morden society public buildings are also the representation of regional culture that would prove emotional for spectators.

I took this photo by my phone when I was on the plane back to Sydney last year. When I posted this online then I just realised that the Harbour Bridge and Opera House can also be seen in the centre of the photo.
